Volunteer Opportunities
Helping Homeless Men
Volunteer Description
Your church, Sunday school class, small group or community association/organization can make a significant difference and impact in the lives of these men. You are invited to choose one night a week to share with men who are living at The Homestead. You can join the men in our Pump House Café for a hot supper. You can get some good experience leading a devotional or Bible study following your meal. Then you will have opportunity to share some unstructured, fun time with the men in our Pump House game room. During this time you can shoot pool, play table tennis, checkers, chess, foosball, or air hockey. You will have many opportunities to help these men develop a positive support system for when they move out of the shelter. They will be looking for a good church with some familiar faces.
Ministry Match
Small groups of friends will enjoy getting involved in a local mission that won’t cost them anything. This ministry opportunity may also fit for people who have experienced some losses, relationship break-ups, loneliness, addictions, or a second chance in life. If you’ve healed from some of your life’s hurts and you are ready to invest in men who need to experience God’s grace in action, this men’s ministry may be just the right one for you. Come and give it a try. Doing ministry with your friends will also help your group become what the church was designed for: God’s mission.
Time Required
Two hours a week. At this point, Monday through Friday evenings are available from approximately 5:00-7:00 p.m.
If you are interested in serving homeless men, please contact Glenn at (419) 207-3900 or e-mail gsprunger@pumphouseministries.com.
