Volunteer Opportunities
Food Pantry Volunteers
Volunteer Description
Pump House Ministries has a growing ministry to hungry families in our community. Volunteers put away food that is shipped to us from the Cleveland food bank. Volunteers will help stock the shelves of our new food store. Volunteers help people feel welcome and valued when they come to get food for their family. Volunteers help box or bag food for people. Volunteers play music and create a relaxed environment for people under stress. Volunteers lead baking and cooking classes that equip people with the tools so they can use the food they receive to make good-tasting meals. Volunteers also make time to listen to the life stories of people who come for food. You will have opportunities to show God’s love in practical ways. You will also have opportunities to inform people of other ministries they can benefit from at Pump House and in our community. You will be able to convey to people that “God cares and so do we.”
Ministry Match
This ministry is well suited for task-oriented, behind-the-scenes people. People with administrative, organizational, and detail-oriented skills can also find a helpful role on this ministry team. People with musical gifts will also lift the souls of hurting people. Those who can talk with new people will be an added blessing to this team. People who are good in the kitchen and have teaching ability can share their skills, your recipes, and their faith with food pantry participants.
Time Required
Most people who join this ministry team serve about 3-4 hours per month.
If you are interested in serving, please contact Pete Snyder at (419) 207-3900.
